When the King's illness worsened, Crown Prince Shin promised the Empress to marry his arranged marriage partner as soon as possible. Prince Shin was still in high school but her realized that htere have never been personal choices available in the life of a Crown Prince. Prince Shin was in love once and even proposed to his girlfriend Min Hyo Rin who turned him down. He thought it was a good thing too because whoever marries him will lose her own identity and personality. He felt consoled that he would be marrying a stranger so that his true love would not be subjected to such sufferings.

Chae Gyeong received a letter from teh Royal household when her family was facing difficulties. To Chae Gyeong's parents everything seemed like a dream, a "huge biscuit" that God has bestowed on them, as they saw that the arranged marriage grandfather always boasted of become realized. Chae Gyeong cried out loud as she was still a high school student and she was not willing to accept the fact that she has to get married so suddenly. Finally, she releted as if twas her responsibility as the eldest child as well as to settle her family's debts.

Thus began a love story between two people who were too young to marry, yet tied to promises made by their elders. They fight, hurt and ultimately love.

Lee Shin possessess the intelligence and appearance of both his parents. He is irritated by the strict rules and dull life inside the palace. He feels bored with his life and he has an intense ongoing struggle with his own identity. Shin is a "nowhere man" who believes that there is no place for him; neither inside the palace nor anywhere else in the world. During his process of teaching the norms of the palace to Chae Gyeong, his ex-girlfriend, Min Hyo rin who has spurned his love, remained the gap between him and Chae Gyeong. Shin is ready to struggle for power with Lee Yul who is also second in throne.

Shin Chae Gyeong is an active high school girl. In her mind she thinks that the prince is a spoiled brat who thinks the world of himself. AFter she gets to know the Crown Prince, she learns of the boredom and loneliness he experiences. Initially, she sympathized with him but as days went by, she realized that she has fallen in love with him. Chae Gyeong quickly and profoundly observes the hidden desires and secrets of power found inside of the elegant palace better than anyone else. She becomes a central character that changes not only the palace itself but also all the other characters she encounters.
