Eun Young and Jae Ha
They were once childhood friends separated by tragedy and 15 years later brought together by fate. It was Jae Ha's instant dislike for Eun Young that peaked my interest. Although the story in the very beginning was partial to Eun Young and Phillip, I knew that it would eventually be Jae Ha, who would sweep her off her feet. He later admitted, not knowing that he was actually talking to her on the phone and not his best friend, that he acts the way he does around Eun Young because his heart hurts when he sees her. From the very beginning Jae Ha has noticed so many similarities between his childhood Eun Young and the present Eun Young. What the viewers are privy too and the characters aren't is the fact that she is the real Eun Young and he is in fact the childhood Su Ho. No matter how long time separated them and no matter how others try to keep them apart, they are bound by fate. They meet and will most likely always find a way towards each other. As cliched as Korean dramas get I don't mind seeing the repetition in this love story. The longing looks, the quiet scenes, the neverending hand holdings, the serene walks and the beautiful scenery and music all play a role in unfolding this sweet and heartbreaking story. The story is yet to finish, but like everyone else who loves this pairing, I'm hoping for a happy ending. Being the last installment of the season's drama, I would have to say that this is my favorite. There's no major villains and no overwhelming diseases as of yet. If they stay true to the story we'll all probably get the happy ending we're all hoping for.
Updated Impression 6/26/08
It's been years since the drama ended. Eun Young and Jae Ha got their happy ending. I didn't especially like the path at the end, but I guess no great love story is worth telling if no difficulty arise. The villains came aplenty at the end, but all were redeemed. Their separation somewhat brief in kdrama time was still hard to watch. I wish that they filmed a different scene in Austria. An updated one. I just knew that the ending Austria scene was filmed the same time as the beginning Austria scene. The acting was still awkward. The actors didn't get to know each other yet and to me it was evident. Although I really loved that they settled back to the island. Their special place and can be accounted for bringing them back together. Overall, the drama is sweet and worth watching. It's still my favorite out of all the season dramas.
Shipper Worthy Moments
The following are breakdown of moments that made me love this pairing even more. I was going to approach this with all sorts of mushy yet witty quotes about this relationship. But there's just too many of that around. I'm just going to explain what happened and what I thought about it. Nothing ingenious, just plain old my perspective.
