I was drawn to their instant camaraderie, obvious attraction and eventual love story. Their romance wasn't perfect, but undeniably sweet. The kind of sweet that makes you want to rewatch their scenes over and over. It has that refreshing feel. Yes it was cliched, I can't deny that but the Hong sisters have a way of making you wish for the predictable. There were just too many surprises and twists with the rest of the plotlines, that you craved the predictability of the romance. I have yet to watch the finale and I'm hating all the angst between the two. But I guess you have to fight for the love story and happily ever after to really appreciate the outcome. They spent so much time together. I guess all that close contact and heart stopping adventure solidified their bond. Like what Gil Dong said, Yi Nok has a tendency to explain their relationship by stating that they hunted tigers together, how can anything ever come in between them?!

If you haven't finished watching (spoilers ahead)...

  • Their first meeting. Gil Dong was so confident that he would make her his bride. All in hope of getting free Chinese lessons since he was heading out to China.
  • How Gil Dong kept calling her his wife.
  • When Gil Dong managed to always rescue her when she was in trouble.
  • When Yi Nok has food stashed that she wanted to share with Gil Dong.
  • Yi Nok always managed to comfort Gil Dong.
  • Gil Dong freaked out when Yi Nok first showed him her cobra. Which eventually led to the awful demise of the poor unfortunate cobra.
  • When Yi Nok screamed her final goodbye to Gil Dong in episode 2. Not realizing that she already started to fall in love and that Gil Dong was watching her from behind.
  • Gil Dong was mesmerized by Yi Nok as she came up from underwater. But then immediately changed his mind after witnessing her peeing in the water. (Hard to explain but caps coming soon).
  • Gil Dong ate the taffy that was in the water with Yi Nok in the above mentioned scene.
  • When Gil Dong showed his jealous streak. In the beginning he first showed it by calling Yi Nok his wife and then following it up with "are you dating?" Then in later episodes, after CH was injured, he was jealous of Yi Nok's attentiveness to CH's injury and not his own. He fixed it by taking his remedy instead of patiently waiting for it. Gil Dong stole a kiss (his cure). He then mentioned it to Yi Nok that he was cured by something so much more powerful than the remedy she was making for CH. She wanted to know what it was so she can give it to CH. Gil Dong, of course, got mad and told her that he wouldn't ever share it.
  • The resuscitation scene (mouth to mouth underwater) and the awkward moment afterward.
  • Hunting scenes (fox, bear and tiger) and the fact that their scars progressed from mere scratches to all out broken limbs.
  • When Yi Nok got jealous of Gil Dong and his harem.
  • When Yi Nok tried to convince Gil Dong not to go to China.
  • All their "I Love You" scenes.

Yi Nok: We didn't do it in purpose, so let's just forget about it, Gil Dong. How... embarrassing.

Gil Dong: That was emergency resuscitation, do you understand?

Yi Nok: In any case, I won't forget how you saved my life again.
Gil Dong: Yes, remember it for all eternity.
Yi Nok: I don't know what eternity means, but I'll remember it for a long time!

Yi Nok: So why do you hang out with a stupid girl?
Gil Dong: You're right. I usually don't hang out with other people. Why am I with you all the time? It was a bit troublesome at times, but it wasn't too bad. You're sad when I leave and happy when I come back. You tell me to cheer up when I'm down. You're not bad.
Yi Nok: It wasn't a big deal! You're embarrassing me. Gil Dong, have some more soup!
Gil Dong: Stop! I'm not eating that soup! You spat into it!
Yi Nok: Once it goes in your stomach, it's all the same!

Yi Nok: The ship is so small. It might flip over on the way. You shouldn't go on ships like that.
Gil Dong: I think it's bigger than the last ship.
Yi Nok: It's freezing in China right now. You might freeze to death.
Gil Dong: I won't die.
Yi Nok: Doesn't it look like there might be a typhoon?
Gil Dong: Do you want the ship to be grounded because of a typhoon? Why?
Yi Nok: Do you really have to go?
Gil Dong: Why?
Yi Nok: I wish you weren't going to China. I wish you were staying here. Gil Dong, can't you just stay?
Gil Dong: No, I can't. Go to Magoksa. You don't have to bid me farewell this time.
